Canada is not a starting point, it's a goal.

"Do you girls know each other from somewhere? No? You've just met for the first time? Great! That is exactly what this is all about - making new friends!" said to us by Whistler Blackcomb's recruiting manager Karen Bauckham between our interviews after seeing us talking.

We are Leena and Aino. Both of us are going to work at Whistler Blackcomb ski resort through the next winter season and travel like crazy around Canada and the US. New food experiences (for Aino) and heli-boarding adventures (for Leena) ahead! We've known each other only for a couple of months. Doesn't feel like that though. We've been having a lot of fun and goofing around after first meeting the day before our job interviews in Copenhagen.

Leena wants to be an acrobat at Tivoli, Copenhagen.

Hi, I´m Leena. I Have always been interested in working abroad and I consider Canada to be an amazing country. Two years ago I started to explore different ways to get myself a job from there. In November 2011 I found myself from Kilroy´s website and there it was: The working holiday in Canada. Already in next day I was in the Kilroy´s office asking about Powder Package program and how it would work. 4th of January I applied to this program and after few days Andy from The Working Holiday Club called me.

So far this year has been fulfilled with deadlines, emails, paperworks, stress, packing and waiting. Can´t wait to get to the Canada! I started snowboarding since I was 11 years old, but in the last few seasons I have not been able to go to the slopes. I´m from Helsinki, and no decent ski resorts in this city or nearby. I used to spent 2-4 weeks in Lapland every winter but working in 5 diff place at the same time took all my time.
I miss so much the feeling what comes when you are on the top of the slopes, tie your snowboard bindings, feel the cold wind on your face and the touch of the slopes on the first run of the season.
The opportunity to work in a ski resort in Canada is truly a dream come true for me!!

Aino and pink cotton candy making friends at Tivoli, Copenhagen.

Hey all. I'm Aino. 9 months ago my desire to explore the world grew too big. I had to do something. It took me about 48 hours to decide what to do and where to go. Somewhere far, FAR away where I've never been but always wanted to go. Canada. It just felt right. And it still does. A place where I can do something I've never done before. ... it's about time for me to learn how to snowboard!

I decided to go with The Working Holiday Club's Powder Package. During the long and at times frustrating (paper work, paper work, paper work...) process I received a lot of info and help from Andy at the UK office. In July I flew to Copenhagen and was interviewed for a position at Whistler Blackcomb ski resort. In August I was offered a job as a capp bar worker on top of the Whistler mountain! GREAT news! ...eh?! After that the time has been flying. Only two days of work left in Finland. The last week is going to be packed with packing and saying goodbyes. O Canada! See you soon mate. xx the girl who's looking forward to Tim Hortons donuts

So here we are, ready to go! The flight from Helsinki to Vancouver is leaving on October 24th. Next 9 days are going to be painfully long despite the fact that we still have a lot of things to do before we fly out. We're going to stay in Vancouver for one week before heading to Whistler and starting to work. The first week in Canada is going to be busy with all the bank account, SIN, etc., stuff.

And hey... We're impatiently waiting for the kick-ass Halloween party in Vancouver we just bought tickets for!

A LOT OF LOVE,

L & A
